The responsible breeder is obliged to prepare the bitch for future motherhood by conducting antihelminthic therapy (deworming) and vaccination against infectious diseases a month before the alleged estrus. At the same time, born puppies receive, with the first portion of mother’s milk (colostrum), the most important basis for passive clostral immunity – ready-made antibodies that protect them during infancy. Thanks to this natural mechanism, the safety of suckling puppies from viruses and bacteria is ensured. If the necessary vaccinations have not been given to the mother, the amount of antibodies (antibody titer) in the puppies’ blood is markedly reduced, which affects the viability of the babies.
At the age of 4 to 12 weeks, the puppy’s immune system goes through a critical period of development. The number of immune bodies transmitted with breast milk (colostrum) is gradually decreasing, while their own immune defenses are not yet fully formed. How dog breeding is becoming a hobby.
Once a dog of a certain breed comes to a person and becomes for him something more than just a dog. He feels her soul, and this feeling is somewhat reminiscent of love. With this dog, they go to training grounds, to exhibitions and competitions, to hikes, and sometimes they find themselves in different situations that can be discussed with like-minded people – owners of the same breed of dogs. The very first step towards buying corgi is the choice between a cardigan and his red brother Pembroke. And of course, the owner must understand whether this breed is right for him.
Differences from Corgi Pembroke:
Pembroke has medium-sized ears, erect, rounded towards the end. Cardigans have more rounded ears. Pembroke color can be either red, black or sable. Cardigans have a more extensive palette of shades of wool. In size, the cardigan is slightly larger and taller. Pembroke is very sociable in any company, on the contrary, cardigans behave very restrained with strangers. The tail of the Pembroke previously stopped, which is why it became less long. Cardigans have a long fox tail.
